As young people, what is being expected of us?
The world, the media does not offer much of a guidance to build strong characters in teenage years. What the world shouts is, "You're young, enjoy yourselves!" The media offers an image of teenage years being honeymoon years where teens are suppose to do nothing significant besides priming up ourselves to attract the opposite sex.
We are not expected to rise up to the occasion to make an impact. We are expected to go only two extremes; a)to sit meekly and study or b)to rebel every instruction give and make a fool of ourselves in our teenage years. Being bombarded daily by all these hidden intention in the media and by the people around is, its sad to say that we have already taken in these lowly values and standards unconsciously. We are exposed to all these messages well before we hit puberty and it is embedded in us, in every crack and cervix. All this results in weak, feeble character.
However, all this doesn't mean that we cant break the chain of incompetence. We can rise up and change the world, one bit at a time. Great inventions come from simple ideas. Great people comes from simple changes. Who said that teenagers cannot work hard? History have proven that we can. It is not impossible, but it is a hard thing to do. Focus your eyes on your goals and the journey would be much more bearable.
Ask yourselves this, are you exceeding expectations or just getting by? Are you robbing yourselves of a greater achievement just because you're unwilling to take on certain responsibilities?
Now think about this: You probably have a few more years in your teens, don't let it get by without doing something and regret later on. Do something. Do the hard thing.
Right now, i have certain issues that i need to deal with in order to get a healthier spiritual life. Obviously, i wont be easy but i will fix my eyes on my goal; Jesus.
If you feel like doing something but don't know how, go to The Rebelution. These two teenage brothers are doing something. You might want to join them too:)
